The inspiration for Live in Letters came from the client's desire for a space that reflected his taste and provided a gallery-like experience. Drawing from the concept of hidden creativity, architect Tadao Ando's philosophy guided the design process. The result is an unpredictable, yet simple and original co-working space that offers a unique ambiance.
One of the standout features of Live in Letters is its black-based color scheme, which is both trendy and elegant. The space exudes a delicate sense of a gallery, with its irregular configuration of an unruly living room sofa and an amorphous TV wall. The combination of black, white, and grey tones, along with the use of light boxes and iron pieces, creates a modern and innovative atmosphere reminiscent of a co-working space.
The design also includes an extra-long dining table that can accommodate up to eight people, as well as a complete dressing room that adds a touch of luxury to the space. These elements contribute to the overall comfort and functionality of the 146.6m2 residence.
The realization of Live in Letters involved the use of various techniques and materials. The entrance sidewall, for example, features Italian Fresco stucco paint with a trendy and original touch. The massive black book wall is displayed in iron and steel frames, layered with wood grain veneer and wood shelves, adding both finesse and warmth to the space. Additionally, a structural column in the open public area has been transformed into a light box, turning it into a work of art.
Despite the design challenges faced during the project, such as the assembly of industrial-style track lamps and the complex paint construction process, the design team's meticulous work and execution ensured a successful outcome. The result is a space that not only meets the client's requirements but also showcases the artistic and spiritual nature of the design.
Live in Letters, designed by Chia Ling Sun, is a winner of the prestigious A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This recognition highlights the design's practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial standards. By integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, Live in Letters contributes to a better world by providing fulfillment and positive feelings through its unique and sophisticated design.
Live in Letters is a testament to the power of design to create spaces that are not only functional but also visually captivating and emotionally engaging. With its distinctive co-working space concept and elegant black-based aesthetic, Live in Letters offers a truly unique living experience.
